Anyone who wants to start a career in beauty and aesthetics, including people with no background in beauty therapy who want to go on to advanced treatments such as laser and IPL.
The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Practice is where a career in beauty and aesthetics starts. It leads to the VTCT (ITEC) Level 3 Certificate in Access to Aesthetic Therapies (qualification number 610/2399/1), which is designed for learners with no formal background in beauty therapy.
It combines Level 2 and Level 3 units, so you gain the underpinning knowledge without sitting full Level 2 and Level 3 courses separately. Many of their units would not be relevant if you are heading straight into an aesthetics career.
You learn facials and skincare from the ground up: consultation and client care, health and safety, anatomy, physiology and pathology, skin analysis and the Fitzpatrick scale, contraindications, electrical science and practical facial treatments.
The theory is studied online in 15 modules, about 13 hours in total, each ending with a knowledge check. A mock theory exam at the end prepares you for assessment. The three practical facial modules are taught online and assessed in person at our Birmingham training centre.
In-person attendance and online self-study. This is a hybrid course. You attend taught practical sessions in person and complete the underpinning theory through self-study online. Both parts are required to achieve the qualification.
Our VTCT Level 4 Laser Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation course. Other specialist qualifications at Level 4 include the VTCT (ITEC) Level 4 Awards in Skin Peeling, Skin Needling, Ultrasound, Dermaplaning, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) and Scalp Micropigmentation.
Anyone who wants to start a career in beauty and aesthetics. You do not need any previous beauty therapy training.
So you gain the underpinning knowledge without sitting full Level 2 and Level 3 courses separately. Many of their units would not be relevant if you are heading straight into an aesthetics career.

It is a hybrid course. You study the theory online in 15 modules, about 13 hours in total, with a knowledge check at the end of each one. The pass mark is 80% and you can retake a check as often as you like. The practical facial modules are assessed in person at our training centre at 40 George Road, Birmingham.

Go on to advanced treatments at Level 4. Our VTCT Level 4 Laser Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation course follows on directly. You can book both courses together for £2,500.
